Change your Voter Registration by October 12 to vote for Ron Paul in the primary

September 30, 2007

Ron Paul may be running for president as a Republican but we all know he isn’t what passes for a Republican today.  At risk of being painfully obvious Republicans are just borrow-and-spend versions tax-and-spend Democrats these days.  They both want bigger government and they both want more war.

Ron Paul, of course, would change all that with a freedom philosophy based on small government and non-interventionist foreign policy i.e  end the war and cut taxes.

A few short months ago Ron Paul looked like a long shot. But that’s changing now.  A member of the campaign told me there is a chance they can win the New Hamsphire primary.   On the fundraising side they just raised $1 million in one week.  They originally had a half million goal but they blew by it so fast they doubled it - and beat that too.

America is crying out for a straight-talking, anti-war, pro-freedom leader and it seems we have found him.

Now we need to move quickly to be able to vote for him in the Republican primary.  Libertarians, Democrats and others who are not registered Republican can change their registration by October 12 to be able to vote in the primary.

New York City Board of Elections Website says:

To Change Your Party Affiliation
You can change your party affiliation by obtaining a Voter Registration Form, indicating the change and sending it to the Board of Elections. We will process the information and send you a new voter card reflecting the change in party. You cannot CHANGE your enrollment and vote in the NEW PARTY of your choice in the same year. Please Note: a change of enrollment will go into affect one week following the General Election. The last day to change your enrollment is the same as the last day to register for the General Election (25 days prior to the date of the General Election).

Don’t worry registering Republican won’t automatically turn you into a neo-con.  And you can always change back if Ron Paul isn’t nominated.

Boo-Hoo in Blue

September 26, 2007

I love this site Cops Writing Cops. As we’ve documented before, cops don’t even try to hide the fact that they consider themselves above the law. Those renegades who actually think the law should apply to everyone get nominated by their “brothers” for the Dick of the Month Award. Naturally, many of New York’s Whiniest share their sob stories at CWC:

I am an active police officer in the NYPD and was driving down to Florida on March 4th 2007 which was the first time I have driven to Florida, not realizing in time the sign changed 65 to 45 i was slowing down and was nailed doing 61 in a 45 by Officer Brown 2416 (the summons copy is light) of LAWTEY PD Bradford County FL. I had to pay $185 which I didn’t have on this avoidable summons. This officer could have cared less that he was writing another active police officer, I go out of my way to take care of other cops no matter where you may be visiting from.

Gee, he thinks a speedtrap is unfair — but only when it catches a fellow officer.

Here’s another gem:

While employed with the NYPD I was traveling on I-10 in the Florida panhandle in May of 2003 and I was accompanied by my wife and at the time 2 year old son. There was no traffic and it was a bright sunny day. I was pulled over by a Florida Highway Patrol Officer named Trooper Love. I’ll never forget that name because of the love he showed me. when he got to my car I identified myself as a New York City Police officer… As we walked back I asked him if he collected patches because I had a NYPD patch from the detail that I worked for. He said that he doesn’t need that he just needs my driver’s license. I obliged and he began to write the summons in front of me. At this point I asked him if perhaps he could lessen the speed, to which he replied “Can’t do that. Judge round these parts frowns upon that.” … Trooper Love definitely belongs in the Hall of Fame for Dick Cops!!

In other words, Dick Cop = Cop Who Actually Has Some Integrity.

Hell Hath No Fury Like a Radical Homosexual Scorned

September 25, 2007

The rabble-rousers at the Radical Homosexual Agenda are going to keep rubbing Christine Quinn’s nose in her own hypocrisy when they “Parade Without a Permit” this Saturday. Good for them!

New Kids on the Block

September 24, 2007

Sorry this blog has been so quiet lately. My employer had the audacity to block access to this site, and I always did most of my posting during the day. The nerve of some people, expecting me to focus on my work when I’m at work!

Anyway, tonight I’m going to catch up on some things I’ve been meaning to post for awhile. While I’ve been slacking with this blog, I’m pleased that the Manhattan Libertarian Party has some new blood to pick up the slack. In fact, several of the new kids showed up for our last street fair booth of the summer, and some of them posted their thoughts on their own blogs.

For “Laur-XYZ,” the Operation Politically Homeless Booth was a rewarding experience:

antonio and i spent sunday volunteering at the lexington ave street fair in the city with the manhattan libertarian party giving people the worlds smallest political quiz and handing out ron paul literature. it felt really great to be a part of something. ive spent too many weekends on the couch the last couple years. pre-new years resolution: im going to start getting more involved with the outside world.

On the other hand, her friend Antonio (a.k.a. “Blog of Bile”) thought the experience was “a good amount of fun” but “not well organized”. That’s us in a nutshell.

Our Meetup is Bigger Than Your Meetup!

September 7, 2007

… or at least more generous. Over the last few weeks, the hundreds of Ron Paul Meetup groups around the country held a fundraising contest for Paul’s presidential campaign. The grand prize for the most money raised is a visit from The Man himself, Dr. Paul.

The results are in, and winner is… a tie between the Manhattan + Ron Paul Action Group NYC and the Greater Philadelphia Ron Paul Presidential Campaign.

Congratulations, everyone who contributed! I’ve had the honor of meeting Ron Paul on a couple of occasions, but it’s always a treat to hear him speak, especially now when his campaign is on such a roll.

REMINDER: The organizer of the Manhattan + Ron Paul Action Group NYC, Dr. Avery Knapp, will be the guest speaker at the Manhattan Libertarian Party monthly meeting on Monday.
