Buzzing Lower Manhattan with a Jet is Bad, Mmmm-kay?

So the geniuses at the Defense Department decided it would be a good idea to fly a 747 low over the southern tip of Manhattan this morning, escorted by two F-16 fighters. And just for good measure they ordered local authorities not to let the public know what was happening.

In the ensuing panic, workers evacuated downtown office buildings. Finally, the pranksters at the FAA revealed they just wanted to take some pictures of the Statue of Liberty!

Idiots.

I got some good exercise walking down 18 flights of steps and to battery park. At least it wasn’t raining.

When I told my wife the story, she immediately pointed out that “just taking pictures of the Statue of Liberty” is an obvious lie and cover-up. Like there aren’t already gazillions of images of the Statue of Liberty. She’s right, of course, and I regret the brief lapse in my mistrust of government official statements.

Not getting all conspiracy-theorist or anything, but the story just doesn’t make sense. The truth was probably something equally stupid but more embarrassing, like Joe Biden wanted to join the Mile High Club over Ground Zero.

What is wrong with them doing whatever they want.? It is their country after all. You serfs are expected to toil, not question authority. For shame.

Joe Biden wanted to join the Mile High Club over Ground Zero.

    Oh, thanks for that visual!
